FAQ

Q: WHAT COLORS ARE AVAILABLE FOR MY SIGN?
A: We use One Shot/Chromatic sign enamels and Sherwin Williams finishes
as our main finishing pigments, but not exclusively. While we don't
guarantee an exact color match to your swatch, we can get very close.
We Can also use a fan or pms chart. It is a useful tool, but not all
colors can be matched to exterior paint colors. ALL OUR SIGNS OUR
FINISHED WITH A PPG AUTOMOTIVE CLEARCOAT FOR MAXIMUM UV PROTECTION.
Q: WHAT ABOUT A DESIGN FOR MY SIGN?
A: If you need your project designed from the ground up, let SIGNS PLUS
be your design PROFESSIONALS. We have years of experience creating
designs from a variety of skill sets including hand sculpture, graphic
design & fabrication. We'll be sure to give you the attention you
deserve from CONCEPT TO COMPLETION on your project. Your sign from
SignsPlus will produce long lasting first impressions. That's the
motto that we stand on.
Q: HOW LONG CAN I EXPECT MY SIGN TO LAST?
A: There is no definite answer to the question. The wood or signfoam will
in theory last forever. The heart of woods like cedar and redwood have
a high tanic acid content which helps the wood resist rot. An added
benefit is that they accept and hold finishes well. Your sign is only
as good as its final paint & finish job. We at Signsplus know this so
we go the extra mile to paint, finish & protect your sign from the
elements. Our paints & finishes will insure the maximum life of your
investment.
Q: HOW DO I GET MY SIGN INSTALLED?
A: We can arrange the sign to be installed by one of our professionals or
we can show you how easy it is to install wood or foam signs.
However some signs may require a different method of installation so
be sure to consult with us on your complete project.
Q: WHAT MATERIALS CAN THE SIGNS BE MADE FROM?
A: Exterior dimensional signs are most commonly wood or urethane foam.
With the scarcity of redwood today, most sign makers are using western
red cedar for their wood signs. When sandblasted, the foam signs look
like sandblasted stone. This is called a "pebble finish". If you want
a "wood-grain finish", we recommend using red cedar. Both materials
have their advantages. Red cedar always has a classic look. But, sign
foam will not rot or warp or weather - making it longer-lasting. If
properly finished, both materials will offer many years of service.
Both foam signs and sandblasted wood signs age very gracefully. Your
refinishing window is very large before the sign looks uncared for.
UV is the primary enemy of all exterior finishes.
Q: WHAT WILL MY SIGN COST?
A: We base the cost of the sign on a few factors. First, the overall
scale and complexity of your sign. Second is the materials. This
includes the sub-straight as well as the colors and number of colors
(vinyl, paint or print). Lastly, the conceivable fabrication time of
the sign. Please fax or e-mail any drawings or ideas you may have for
a sign quote.
